This bar is hidden in the basement of an office building – at the bottom of some stairs – behind what looks to be a restricted and locked personnel or service entrance. This speakeasy is tiny, if you want space come early or expect to wait – but it is worth it. The place has this charming little blend of Japanese and Western décor – a very nice little East and West vibe going on, but more than that this little bar has already been ranked in the top 10 of Asia’s Best Bars by Drinks International, simply because the cocktails are really special.
Once you find the place, indulge in the fabulous cocktails made by award-winning mixologists, Shawn Chong and Karl Too. Since they practice an ‘Omakase’ format, which means ‘I’ll leave it to you’ in Japanese, the mixologists are more than happy to create a cocktail just for you – and considering that the place is so tiny, one really gets a sense of total exclusivity with the bartenders. When they start tailor making cocktails for you and your friends (just tell them the flavors that you like and they will concoct something for you), then that is when the evening gets rather special.
